Following another 106-93 gut-wrenching loss this time against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young spoke in front of the media with a heavy heart.

And based on the sentiments he delivered, he was clearly unhappy.

“I feel like this is being repetitive since my early years of losing,” Young said, via Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. “We tried so hard to find a way to win and it’s not enough.”

“We just have to find a way. It’s tough.”

After a promising postseason wherein they managed to claw on their second conference finals berth in six years, the Hawks were expected to glide for much greater heights this season — in which they haven’t met, unfortunately. Currently 12th place in the East with a 17-22 record and three games away from the Play-in tourney, issues like unavailability and inconsistencies have stung them around the rough process.

The Hawks have struggled with their shooting all night long, with their starting backcourt Young and Kevin Huerter went ice-cold with a combined 16-of-37 shooting (36%) from the field. Though swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic caught fire during the first-half with 15 markers, the stud perimeter defense of the Clippers in courtesy of Eric Bledsoe and Markieff Morris held him down to 19 until the final buzzer sounded.

Though delighted to see the rest of his squad healing, Young remains frustrated by the losses his team is gaining. As such, he is hopeful that Atlanta will find its way on top again

“We’re finally getting some guys back, but we’ve got to win. For me… It’s frustrating. I hate losing. That’s pretty much it. I’m not the happiest guy in the world right now, but we’ve got to find a way to win.”

With Young showing his dissatisfaction on the rocky run of the Hawks so far, GM Travis Schlenk indeed has a one, challenging month in front of him trying to save the franchise’ campaign. As he claimed last week, he is taking the utmost responsibility to turn things around for the underperforming team he assembled.

The Hawks will fly back to Georgia and are set to face the visiting Miami Heat on Wednesday, with hopes to return to the win column.
