James Wiseman seems to be ways away from returning to action for the Golden State Warriors, as the sophomore big underwent a procedure on his right knee mid-December, per Connor Letourneau of SF Chronicle.
The procedure went on Wiseman’s surgical repaired right knee to clean up some debris. Wiseman underwent a surgery to repair a torn right meniscus nine months ago.
He has yet to be cleared for full participation in Golden State’s practice this year. Now, one from the minor surgery around his knee, the sophomore center is ready to participate on 3-on-3 scrimmages.
Prior to his latest setback, Wiseman was expected to make his return prior to teammate Klay Thompson, who is back with the team after almost two and a half years.
Wiseman averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds on 51 percent shooting during his rookie year. Even if the promising returns soon, he will have a limited role behind Kevon Looney.
The Warriors are among the best teams in the NBA with an NBA best 30-10 record. While Wiseman could be a nice addition to the Warriors’ frontline, Steph Curry and co. will have more pressing matters to face through the next few months of the season.
