Robert Horry on how Russell Westbrook manage to make zero turnovers vs. Kings

Russell Westbrook avoided making turnovers for the first time he season as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings. At the same time he had season-low 2 turnovers.

Lakers legend Robert Horry provided his insight into what helped Westbrook not make a single turnover. “I think it’s a total mindset because if you watch the Lakers play, sometimes they can get a little carefree for me,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet.

“They just throw the ball expecting to put a pass through a little small hole and it gets picked off. When they come out and try to be too fancy with the dribble, they lose the ball. But when they’re precise and they’re direct with their passes , they’re good.

“I think a lot of times for me you want to keep the game simple. I learned that from the first moment I got into the league. Keep it simple and you cut down on your mistakes. With Russ if you watched the way he played against Sacramento, he just kept the game simple. I think he led the team in plus/mins with +17.

“He was just going to the rack getting layups like he’s the best in the league at. But he just kept it really simple, didn’t try to do anything fancy and he was able to have zero turnovers.”
