London sign British-Nigerian guard Miye Oni

London Lions have announced the signing of British-Nigerian guard Miye Oni.

The 2018-2019 Ivy League Player of the Year (Yale University) arrives in the U.K.’s capital following a three-year stint in the NBA with the Utah Jazz.

Selected with the 58th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Oni participated in 80 regular season games and logged 10 playoff appearances during his time with the Jazz. The 6’5” Yale alum had a storied career as a Yale Bulldog, leaving the school 10th all-time in scoring and 4th all-time in three-point makes.

Miye Oni was also a two-time All-Ivy League first-team member in 2018 and 2019.

Oni will replace guard Devon van Oostrum, who played 11 games for the Lions this season.

“We’d like to thank Devon for his time spent with the club,” said Lions General Manager Brett Burman. “A true professional, both on and off the court, Devon made the program better, and we wish him nothing but success going forward.”
