Cheshire Phoenix return fan favourite David Ulph

The British Basketball Trophy Finalists, the Cheshire Phoenix, have moved quickly to secure the return of talented British forward, David Ulph, for the 2023/24 season.

Ulph joined the club from Manchester Giants last summer and proved to be a fan favourite for the Nix Nation in the 2022/23 season with his hustle and toughness on both ends of the floor.

The 6’7 forward averaged 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the most recent campaign, helping the Phoenix achieve their highest Championship finish and first Play-off semi-final appearance since 2016.

Following the confirmation of Ulph’s return, Phoenix Head Coach Ben Thomas said:

“Bringing David back was a really easy decision. He is a great teammate and person to have around the club. On the court he continuously improved throughout the season and played a huge part in the run-in over the last couple of months.

“He’s become a fan favourite due to his blue-collar work-rate on the floor and we will be looking for him to bring that same energy again next season. I’m really looking forward to working with him again.”

27-year-old Ulph added:

“I am really happy to return to Cheshire for my second season. The Nix Nation have treated me like family and I’m really excited to continue to improve and build on the successful year we’ve just had together.”
