Bristol Flyers 75-78 Leicester Riders (18-18, 40-33, 60-57, 75-78)
(Flyers: M.Evans – 18, T.Jacob – 17, M.Delpeche – 14; Riders: Z.Jackson – 28, P.Whelan – 11, G.Crandall – 9)
Leicester Riders came from behind at the SGS College Arena this afternoon to take victory on the road against an in-form Bristol Flyers team who comfortably beat Manchester Giants yesterday.
Riders guard Zach Jackson led the game in points with 28 – a whole ten points more than the next highest total, and also dropped the game-changing three-pointer with 50 seconds to go, before him and Geno Crandall sunk a couple of free-throws each to ensure victory.
Patrick Whelan came closest to a double-double after scoring 11 points and grabbing nine rebounds for the Riders, who managed one extra three-pointer and also scored five more on the fast break than the hosts.
Flyers’ trio of Marcus Evans, Trejon Jacob and Malcolm Delpeche were in great form as usual, scoring a combined 49 points as well as getting the home crowd on their feet regularly with a number of highlight plays.
However, Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas will be left ruing the two more turnovers they gave away than Leicester, with the home side amassing a total of 15 – with just one play needed to level the scores.
